Spice up with Salsa Under the Stars at Sydney Olympic Park

9 February 2009

In what promises to be a Latino banquet of colours, sounds and fun, The Overflow at Sydney Olympic Park will be transformed into an outright fiesta on Saturday February 21st for the third concert performance of the FREE 2009 Music by Moonlight series.

The Latino Rhythm 'n' Groove themed night will feature a fine fusion of groove from the 12-piece Latin band, Son Veneno with special guests Merenia Gilies and DJ K-BEZA. A true multicultural melange, this sizzling ensemble has established itself as one of the hottest acts on the Sydney salsa scene, having dazzled audiences throughout the city with high energy urban Latino rhythms.

Of course, a Latin fiesta could never be complete without a little bit of salsa. In order to satisfy the demand and create a truly unique night, The Overflow will come alive with a dance floor lit up by moonlight. Roaming salsa teachers will also be on hand to get the crowd into their groove, and provide some FREE hot tips on the spiciest dancing in the world.

“Music by Moonlight is the perfect way to make the most of Sydney’s sultry summer nights. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, have fun with the family or meet new people as you salsa under the stars,” said Leah Tasker, Executive Manager of Marketing at Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

The 2009 Music by Moonlight concerts will be in The Overflow every Saturday night in February and will feature a total of four FREE concerts. Son Veneno will perform at the Latino Rhythm 'n Groove themed night on Saturday February 21st. Food and beverages will be available from 6pm and the main entertainment will commence at 8pm. Music-lovers are encouraged to pack a picnic blanket or a low chair and head to The Overflow early to enjoy performances by some of Australia’s best musicians under the stars! Or for those looking for an extra special night, enjoy the best seats in the Park with premium seating and hamper packages. Bookings essential on 9714 7888.
